FUN 1 & 2 (U7 & U9)
FUN 1 and FUN 2 introduce new players to ringette. Players are typically between the ages of 4-9 and are new to skating.
*All NEW registrants aged 4-9 should register in FUN 1. As necessary, new registrants will be moved to the appropriate level thereafter.
Fundamentals provides developmentally appropriate opportunities and meaningful competition, through age and stage-appropriate activities. Coaches use cross-ice and small-area games and small-sized nets, to encourage maximum participation. Play, games and exercises encourage engagement and lots of opportunities for practice and learning. Intra-squad games on home ice are played rather than league games, to emphasize fun (and greatly reduce travel requirements)!
FUN 1 (U7) is for children who are new to ringette or skating, learning basic game structure, and still developing basic skills, this group plays cross-ice.
FUN 2 (U9) is for children who are learning to lengthen their stride, ready to learn more rules of ringette, and have developed some basic skills, this group plays mini-ringette.
Children will learn the following:
- Skating forward and backward
- Stopping, starting, turning
- Basic ringette rules
- Fun games
- Teamwork
Ringette starts in September and ends in early March. There are 1-2 practices a week. FUN1 does not play games with other associations. FUN2 games typically start in the late fall or the new year. There may be the opportunity to play games with other FUN teams in the lower mainland. Home games are on the North Shore and away games are within the lower mainland. Learn more in Ringette BC's letter to families about the Children's Ringette Program.
FUN 1 and FUN 2 practice together at the same time.
